Claiming your account
After you donate, the nonprofit invites you to claim a donor account — a free login that lets you manage your gifts, download receipts, and update your info.
Why claim it
- One year-end tax statement instead of digging through 12 monthly emails.
- Self-service for changing your monthly amount or pausing.
- History — see every gift you've made, ever.
- Your data, your control — update email, phone, address.
It takes 30 seconds.
How to claim
You'll receive an email titled something like "Welcome — claim your donor account". Click the link inside.
You'll be taken to a page asking you to set a password. Choose something memorable (we recommend a password manager). Click Claim account.
That's it. You're logged in.
Where to log in later
The nonprofit's website typically has a Login link (usually top-right of the navigation). Use the email you donated with and the password you set.
What you'll find inside
The donor portal (often at /myconsole) shows:
- Donations tab — every gift you've made, with status, amount, date, and a download link for each receipt.
- Recurring tab — active subscriptions you can manage.
- Profile tab — name, email, phone, mailing address.
- Tax receipts — year-end summaries downloadable in one click.
If you forgot you claimed before
Go to the nonprofit's login page and click Forgot password?. Enter your email; you'll get a reset link. Set a new password and you're back in.
If you donated with a different email
The donor portal shows donations linked to the email you logged in with. If you donated using a different email previously, those won't show up. Contact the nonprofit; they can merge the records on their side.
Privacy
Your donor account is private. Only you and the nonprofit's staff see your donation history. We don't share your information with third parties; the nonprofit doesn't either (unless they explicitly disclose so in their privacy policy).
Common questions
Do I have to claim? No. Donations work and receipts arrive even without an account. But if you give regularly, claiming makes life much easier.
Can I share my login with my spouse? It's fine. Most platforms (including Koolay) don't tie accounts to specific people; if you donate as a household, share the login.
What if I want to delete my account? Contact the nonprofit directly. Per privacy laws (CCPA, GDPR if applicable), they're required to delete your account and personal data on request — though donation records remain in their accounting system for IRS retention requirements.
